Bento Day One: Mostly Successful

Last night I made my first bento box lunch. I used a tupperware that I bought from Aldi. It was divided into 2 small sections and 1 large.

I should have taken a picture but I'll do my best without one.

In the first small section I stacked slices of kiwi and off to the side a bite of Tolberone.

In the second small section I put in some mushrooms.

In the large section I put carrot slices, peppered cucumber slices and cherry tomatoes.

The lunch was tasty and filled me up but there were two problems.

The chocolate was sweaty so it smeared on my hands. Maybe if I keep the chocolate tucked in purse?

I washed, peeled and sliced the carrots, but somehow some of them had brown edges when I went to eat them. I'm not sure why?

Tomorrow's lunch?

Mushrooms, leftover corn on the cob and cucumber sandwiches...mmm

  1. Just about any fruit or veggie that is sliced (or peeled) will brown a bit from air, you can always squeeze some citrus juice on it to halt that some. You could also wrap your chocolate in a wee bit of paper or foil to stop it sweating, maybe. Also since you like to bake, try making your own crackers or crispbreads. Your grandmother made a cheese pecan cracker that was highly addictive. Especially when eaten with fruit. Any stale bread can be sliced, tossed with oil and herbs, then baked to make it into a melba toast sort of cracker, in your favorite flavours!
