Did anyone watch this show on CBS?
I was astounded by who one, but love the show regardless. (I was rooting for Francine. She is my home girl after all. I wonder if she'd mind if I stopped over for some of that pie!)
I thought Darlene, Elaine and Effie were all really good too.
But the show has got me thinking. Many of the bakes I've never attempted. My baking bucket list as definitely grown thanks to this show.
I'm curious....

It's a prize!
Yenta Mary of Food Floozie has given me an award!
Yenta Mary is quite possibly my favorite food blogger. Her blog stars fabulous recipes and features great local places to eat on the cheap. Reading it makes me want to take a trip to Michigan. (PS: She has red kitchen cabinets that I adore !)

11 facts
1. We're looking into moving back to South Korea. My hubby lived there before and we feel called to go back. Our recruiting agency actually called while I was typing this.
2. I'm in the process of writing a book or two. More later on that subject.
3. I love baking and trying new flavor combinations. Especially with cupcakes.
4. I love the old shows like Gilligan's Island, Petticoat Junction, Green Acres and I Love Lucy .
5. I am in love with Captain Jack Sparrow. And my best friends boyfriend does a darn good impression of him. Its his looks, his mannerisms and quite possibly that I am where the rum went.
6. I love Reisens but I rarely buy them because they're so darn expensive. Maybe once I'm done paying off my student loans.
7. I went to a college just for women.
8. I love jokes. However, I am terrible at telling them.
9. I love to talk on the phone and prefer it to texting. I love random, how are you doing phone calls.
10. I really really enjoy shopping for gifts and putting together care packages for my friends.

Oh wow. I'm sure it will take me awhile to get over being speechless. He is so magnificent, so Holy, I can't even imagine what it will be like to be in His presence.

3. What is the word or phrase you overuse the most? "Really?"
4. What is your favorite side dish at Thanksgiving? Cornbread stuffing. oh man

Easter's On the Way!
Easter is nearing! Spring is almost here!
I'm considering offering to host an Easter lunch for my hubby's family. Last year it seemed as if there was a lot of hurt and confusion as to who was invited to what so if we host that means I'm committed to inviting a large amount of people into our small apartment. I know not everyone would come but I want everyone to feel welcome.
On my break today I started brainstorming recipe ideas for either an Easter brunch or lunch. To jump start my thinking, I text ed my family and friends and asked (the obviously poorly phrased):
What foods do you think of when you think of Easter?
The responses:
My little sister: Reese eggs! (Yum-O!)
And after clarification: Ham and Au Gratin Potatoes or Potato Salad
Lyric: Deviled eggs, mac n cheese, black eyed peas
K10: Eggs, ham, white cake
Banana: Eggs. Marshmallows. Pastel sweets
To which I replied: Sounds great. We'll have scrambled eggs, marshmallows and lavendar cake.
I guess I should have clarified that I was looking for menu ideas.
What are your favorite Easter dishes? Would you rather cook/eat a lunch or brunch?

I haven't done this in awhile but today I'm particiapting in Five Question Friday over at My Little Life
1. How close to your childhood dreams is your life now?
Close but not there. I wanted to be famous, be a well read author, be married, be a college graduate and have kids. So far I'm a married college grad. I also wanted to live somewhere sunny and that is not currently home.
2. What is one must have item for the summer?
A lawn chair! I can layout in a tanktop and bitty shorts but I need something comfy to lay out in!
3. Do you have your kids stay up on school stuff during summer vacation? (Or, if you don't have kiddos, did your parents make you keep up on school stuff during summer?)
I love to read so I would always do the summer reading programs and we would occasionally do workbooks to keep us uptodate.

A Big Decision to Make
Mike and I had a long talk last night about whether we should honeymoon now or later.
We'd been planning a week long trip to Niagra Falls, over Christmas. It will be beautiful, snowing and a wonderful time all around. A dreamy Christmastime trip, complete with fine dining, sight seeing, gambling and fireworks on Christmas Eve. A wonderful bonding time for the two of after a long time apart.
So what's the problem?
Mike found a job a month later than we had hoped and I currently don't have a job, or one lined up. So we've have to start spending savings that we hadn't planned on.We just paid the first month's rent on a town house, plus the security deposit, plus all of the fees for transferring all of the utilities to our name. We still have to buy a washer and dryer and bedroom furniture. If we don't go on the honeymoon we can buy the washer and dryer and part of the bedroom set, in cash. I've considered not buying a washer and dryer immediately and using the laundry mat downtown, but Mike is concerned about me driving downtown in the snow/ice alone to use the laundry mat (as he has a day job so I'll be the one using the laundry mat during the day). If we don't honeymoon we can spend a few more days in SC with my family, spend the week doing things like going grocery shopping, getting me to where I'm comfortable with the town, applying for a part time job, putting me on his bank card, and finding a new bank in our town. We could put up a tree and go to the Christmas eve celebration at his parent's house and cook a nice romantic dinner for Christmas.
The practical me says skip it and go in the summer when we can afford it. The more frivoulous me says go and enjoy the special time with my honey. The practical me says we'll be too worried about finances to enjoy it. As you can probably tell, I'm leaning towards canceling it. But before I make any set in stone decision, I've decided to spend a few days praying about it and to see where that leads me.

Yenta Mary from Food Floozie tagged me in the game of 8x8x8. I'm to answer the eight questions, come up with 8 questions of my own, and then tag 8 friends to answer the questions. Let the games begin!
1. Do you speak any other languages besides English?
Kinda. I took 5 years of Spanish classes. I have a good vocabulary but I'm not as good with grammar. And I'm always scared I'm going to screw it up so I don't speak it often enough. Even though my best friend is pretty darn fluent.
2. Do you still have your favorite blanket, teddy bear, toy, whatever from childhood?
Yes! I had a soft blanket with pink and white squares- the white ones had roses on them. I also had a round lacey neck pillow.
3. Marshmallows on the Thanksgiving sweet potatoes, or not?
Keep the marshmallows, pass on the potatoes.
4. Do you have a compost pile/container?
No. My parents and grandparents do and I want one once we get out own place.
5. Baseball, football, hockey, basketball, soccer, golf, dodgeball, lawn mower racing ... what's your favorite sport to watch?
Either hockey or baseball
6. How many cookbooks do you own?
Seven
7. Do you like scary movies?
NO! I'm terrible with scary movies- and sometimes even thrillers

Yikes! No, which is unusual. I think its because I was out of the country and swamped with wedding planning. Usually I have a few presents under my belt by now.

A Friendly Game of Tag

1. What item of yours has the most sentimental value, and why?
I really loved my charm bracelet- I'd collected a charm for every activity I'd been involved in as a child and had been given charms by mom parents and grandparents for special events. And then some jerkoff luggage inspector had to steal it.
2. What is the best compliment you've ever received?
Possibly related to my writing.
3. What did you want to be when you grew up?
In charge. Haha. I talked about being an actress, novelist, magazine writer, news anchor and teacher.
4. Do you love or loathe family get-togethers?
I tend to loathe them because it means long periods of time with my mother. However, I do enjoy seeing my little cousins and getting to see them growing up
5. What is your favorite breakfast?
Pancakes and bacon or a veggie omelet

I love Christmas but I also love to see the fireworks on the Fouth of July. My family actually shoots off fireworks on Christmas Eve. I just love them.

Monday Minute- Interesting Questions
I tend to shy away from weekly committments like memes. I'm suprised I still follow through with my weekly giveaways post and my current blog series that's taking me through the alphabet. So don't be suprised if I don't come back for the next Monday Minute. Anyway, I thought these questions were interesting and decided to share my answers. What are yours?
1. What is your what-if person?
(what-if person being what if I married this person)
I can't imagine myself with any man besides Mr. Groom. But I used to have huge crushes on Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom.
2. What is your nickname?
I have had many through the years. My dad used to call me Doodle (after my love of cheesedoodles) and my sister, Sissy and Ray-Ray. Currently, Mr. Groom calls me Bastion or Babers. And a few others but I don't want to share everything.
3. If you could have named your self what would you have picked?
I quite like my name. Although when I was a child I wished for a name that was more "romantic" like Charlotte. Soon, my name will be changing and it will be alliterative and I like the idea of that.
4. Who were you named after or why did your parents choose your name?
No one. My parents decided my name on the way to the hospital. Before that I was going to be Morgan Danielle.

Trying My Hand
I've been seeing a lot of Top Two Tuesday posts but somehow I've never caught on. So here it is this week, my first try at a Top Two Post.
This week we're suppoused to name our top two favorite purchase of the year.
My most favorite purchase of the year (also happens to be my most expensive purchase of the year):
My wedding dress! I love it. Its all lace and quite flowy. After the wedding I'm considering having it cut down to a party dress- I love it so much I'd like to get more than one wear out of it. But at the same time I want to keep it special.
Favorite Purchase #2:
Earrings! I love earrings to begin with but these are even more special because I bought them for my wedding. I tried to think of at least one non wedding related item but this was the second thign that came to mind.

Fireworks. I've always loved to watch fireworks. They're so beautiful. I can't believe I'm missing them this year. I guess I'll have to be content with the sparklers at my wedding.

Not really. But I am a cuddler.
3. What is your favorite BBQ'd food?
Chicken.
4. Do you like to watch parades?
Yes. I love to see all of the neart floats and all of the lovely children. I would love to make it to the Rose Bowl Parade or Macy's Thanksgiving.

Five Question Friday with Little Life

Cooking Advice
Has anyone tried any of these cookbooks?
I like the idea of being able to cook multiple servings, freeze and serve later. Especially since it'll be just the two of us. I really really like the idea of spending one Friday afternoon buying groceries and one Saturday cooking and be set for a month. But I'm not sure if its realistic/feasible. Any other cookbook suggestions or reviews of these books/methods would be greatly appreciated.

1. To have enough money to take care of all of my and my finaces needs and wants so that I can put my income to good use helping others.
2. to have access to anything I want to read
3. What kids show do you secretly like?

4. What is your beverage of choice?
Water, Wine, Rum, Rum with fruit juice, milkshakes
5. What is something that you would change about yourself (or are working to change in yourself)?
1. my inabillity to groove (I'm too stiff)....here's me learning the electric slide - I'm the one on the left(small steps to prepare for dancing at my wedding):

How do you address STDS?
If I'm inviting the recepient and including "and guest" on their invitation...does the STD, get addressed to Person X and Guest as well? Or just to Person X?

5 Question Friday with My Little Life
I've recently discoverd My Little Life's blog. She posts 5 questions every friday. I'm going to take a stab at this week's
1. What was the first car you owned?
I haven't-yet.
2. What song are you embarrassed to know the lyrics to?
Hmmm..well I can't think of the songs name...but I can sing it! Its that song "brush my teeth with a bottle of jack.....cause when i leave for the night i ain't comin' back". i hate that song.
3. Have you ever had stitches?
Kinda. In my mouth for wisdom teeth. I'm pretty sure they dissolved on their own.
4. What was your first job?
Scorekeeper and announcer at the baseball field. I loved it. I could watch a game, hang with my friends, flirt, and get paid, all at the same time. I occasionally took my homwork.
5. Who is your favorite Sesame Street character?
I was never big into Sesame Street so I'll just go with Big Bird on this one.
